Join

The Sky Pirates Club needs you!  We are trying to build up our membership. Whether you’re new to the hobby, or you’re an experienced pilot just looking for another place to fly, please check us out. Guests are always welcome at our meetings and at our flying field.

Steps to becoming a member:

1. Contact us.  We will answer your questions and give you driving directions to our field and meetings.
   

2. Meet the members and check out the field.
   

3. Join the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA)   To be a member of our club you need to also be an AMA member.  You can join the AMA online through their website or we can a provide a paper application form for you to mail to the AMA.  AMA’s current membership fee is $75 per year.
   

4. Review our rules and complete our membership application.   Send it with payment to the address on the application, or bring it to one of our meetings.  Dues are $125 annually.
   

5. You will need to obtain a sUAS registration number from the FAA and place it on each of your models.  You will also need an FAA TRUST certificate.  These are both very simple tasks – we can guide you through the process.

6. If you are a beginner, we will guide you though choosing and setting up an aircraft and provide flight instruction.  Even if you are an experienced pilot you will need to meet once with a club officer to review our field regulations and airspace boundaries.
